Synopsis

Ex-British Prime Minister Adam Lang hosts a ghostwriter hired to write his autobiography. The writer is taking over for a previous ghostwriter who died falling off a ferryboat under mysterious circumstances. The writer realizes he’s been given a difficult task, and not just from a literary point of view. Lang is accused of having, during his term in office, allowed prisoners suspected of terrorism to be tortured, and has secret ties to the CIA. The writer uncovers incongruences in Lang’s biography, specifically concerning the early years of the man’s political career, when Lang was still in college. Suddenly Lang is murdered by a veteran of the war in Iraq. During presentation of the book the writer finally figures out the mystery that drove the previous ghostwriter to abandon the project, and as he’s leaving with a copy of manuscript that details the secret he is struck and killed by a mysterious car in a hit-and-run accident.
