Two men emerge from the open sea onto a beach, carrying a mirrored wardrobe. They head for the city, but are chased off when they try to climb aboard a tram along with their cumbersome burden. They manage to hook up with a girl, but she abandons them and they find themselves mistreated anew when they try to enter first a restaurant, then a hotel, then again when they try to stop a few young thugs. Exhausted, the two men go back to the beach and back into the water, still carrying their wardrobe.

Two clumsy thieves, Albie and Dickey, botch a robbery and Albert is wounded in the stomach. They escape to a castle set on a rocky outcrop surrounded by high tides. Once they reach the castle the two split up and Dickey heads into the castle to try and call their boss for help. Inside he meets the two bizarre owners, George and Teresa, and takes them hostage. During the night, Albert dies from the wounds he received during the robbery, and George buries him the following morning. While George is digging the grave, his wife Teresa and Dickey get drunk on vodka. A few guests show up unexpectedly at the castle, including Cecil, a young man whom Teresa immediately starts flirting with, and a couple with a child. George chases the child off after the boy causes a disaster, then grows impatient with Dickey as well, and kills him. Teresa is indifferent to her husband’s plight and runs away with Cecil while George, distraught, destroys his own paintings and flees to a rocky outcrop.
